7 on 7 Football Rules Explained

In recent years a new phenomenon has grown to become more popular among high school football players. Something called seven-on-seven football has become extremely popular among the so-called skill players. Let’s take a closer look at seven-on-seven football rules and some of the controversy surrounding this growing trend.

7 on 7 Football Rules:

  • The field is 45 yards in length. Games are often played simultaneously on opposite sides depending on how many different teams are participating in the seven-on-seven competition.
  • The field is the standard 160 ft wide with 60 ft from hash mark to hash mark.
  • The end zones in 7 on 7 competitions are also the normal ten feet deep, just like they are in regular football.
  • Most games last for 20 minutes but some may last for 30 minutes.
  • There is no tackling in 7 on 7 football. It is very similar to a traditional touch football game you may have played when you were a kid. There is no tackling allowed.
  • On offense, the quarterback is allowed 4 seconds to pass the ball to a receiver. If he does not make a pass within four seconds, the whistle is blown and the play is dead. There are no defensive players that are allowed to rush the quarterback. The quarterback is not allowed to run the ball…
